The name of this pleasing smart-casual restaurant in Naas is a little confusing as the concept has less to do with great singers and more to do with the fact that the main courses on this restaurant’s menu cost exactly €10 each, ie. a tenner.
Located just off the main street at the harbour end of the town, it’s an attractive restaurant and offers a wide ranging menu, with plenty of choice, making it an appealing and pocket-friendly place for large groups.
Starters may include ever popular hot & spicy chicken wings with blue cheese dipping sauce, or perhaps tasty seafood & spinach smokies, with parsley velouté & herb crumb
Mains range from lighter, Asian-inspired dishes (perhaps Tenors chicken or prawn & vegetable curry, or crispy duck & glass noodles salad) to hearty gourmet bangers and mash, or excellent homemade burgers (choice of beef or chicken).
Side orders, such as sauté, are a reasonable €3 or you can splash out on a few dearer house specialties from the grill, like certified Angus cuts (€18) or grilled fillet of sea bass (€15) which come with their own accompaniments.
Gluten free dishes are available, and young families are made very welcome - an imaginative Little Tenors kids menu includes gourmet baby bowls for €2.50.
Desserts, priced at €5 each, are excellent and include updated retro favourites like Baileys & banana trifle or fresh fruit and lemon curd pavlova.
A short wine list offers only two wines by the glass, although the two available by carafe can be a good alternative to whole bottles.
The budget shouldn’t be your only motive for coming to Tenors Grill Room: the atmospheric room, happy and well-trained waiting staff and tasty, unpretentious cooking make it a solid choice for any occasion.
