Slane Castle
Set in the heart of the picturesque Boyne Valley on a magnificent 1,500 acre estate, Slane Castle is one of Ireland’s oldest and most beautiful castles. There are several fine churches to choose from nearby - including Rathfeigh Church, and Slane village church - and wedding blessings are possible at the castle.
Old world meets modern comfort here, and the castle is available for weddings on an exclusive 24 hour basis only; built into the rental fee is a full wedding co-ordination service from a wedding team who can tailor an individual package - everything, from organising stationery, flowers and menus to advising on dress designers, seating plans and transport, can be taken care of, and manicurists, hairdressers and makeup artists can be brought to the castle to pamper the wedding party on the morning of the big day.
The wedding venues got a choice of two rooms for the reception, depending on numbers - the opulently designed ballroom seats 110 guests or Burton Hall can seat 240; alternatively a marquee can be arranged for any size of wedding.
Slane Castle can design a menu unique to your wedding; no choices are allowed but a 5% fish and 5% vegetarian alternative is always provided - and there is no minimum number of guests, although a 20% service charge is applied on meals for less than 60 guests.
A limited amount of accommodation is available in the castle at a rate of €390 per double room, which reduces to €300 per room if all ten rooms are booked; a list of local accommodation is supplied.
Tours of the castle itself can be arranged, and Newgrange Heritage Centre is nearby.
