TEMPORARILY CLOSED
Comfortable accommodation and Ann Lambe’s warm hospitality make this an appealing base for a peaceful holiday.
There are guided forest walks from the house, angling on Lough Corrib, an equestrian centre (at nearby Ashford Castle) and bikes for hire locally. It’s also well placed for touring Connemara.
The moderately priced rooms are constantly improved (and, in some cases. remodelled) and all have TV, tea/coffee making facilities and hairdryers. No evening meals but the pubs and restaurants of Clonbur are all within walking distance, and so is Ashford Castle.
On fine evenings guests often like to walk to the pub or restaurant of their choice and get a lift back later.
It’s a sociable house with plenty of comfortable seating in the sitting room and conservatory for lounging and chatting, and a new patio/barbecue area where guests enjoy sitting out on fine evenings - trees to the west have recently been cleared, opening up a fine view, long forgotten.
There’s also a library room for visitors, a pool table - and a drying room for anglers.
With such thoughtful provision for guests' comfort and relaxation, and a beautiful setting, this is a lovely place to stay.
