Set in three acres of woodland and gardens, this pristine country house B&B near the Causeway Coast and Royal Portrush Golf Club is a wildlife haven and a lovely peaceful place to stay.
Walking into Dromore House you'll be greeted by wonderful smells - a turf fire, properly polished furniture, freshly brewed coffee...On arrival guests are taken into the drawing room and offered tea or coffee with shortcake baked by the owner, Angela Rolston. The coffee and tea are specially blended by established merchant SD Bells and the coffee beans ground on site.
The rooms are bright and well appointed, with original wooden floors scattered with Persian rugs. The extremely comfortable beds in the lovely serene bedrooms are furnished with Egyptian cotton and the immaculate en-suite or private bathrooms offer a choice of bath or shower.
In the yard you can book "The Scullery", a separately entranced self catering unit with a small kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. During renovations the builders found an original fireplace and its a focal point of the bedroom area. The Scullery would be perfect for a longer stay in the area and 'well behaved small dogs' are allowed here.
Angela is passionate about cooking and using as much local produce as possible. In the summer the fruits of the garden are preserved in jams and jellies. She makes elderflower cordial from bushes in the kitchen garden. From July potatoes grown there are used to make potato bread for breakfast. Scones and wheaten bread are baked in the trusty Aga, along with delicious breakfasts ranging from an Ulster Fry to Eggs Benedict. Vegan and vegetarian options are available too, and granola and marmalade are also made in-house
The many USPs of this lovely house include warm hospitality, gorgeous rooms and a great breakfast - and, while there's no dinner, evening restaurants are only a short drive away and Angela will advise.
The perfect rural retreat.
