The Towers Bar & Restaurant

Great views of Clew Bay and Croagh Patrick, outdoor seating, a secure children’s play park and ingredients-led menus are some of the things that make this Westport pub a perfect desination for families and tourists - and anyone who wants good casual dining with a focus on local, seasonal ingredients, especially seafood.
Open daily in summer 12pm-11.30pm (food to 9.30pm). Beer garden. Children’s menu. Playground. Fishing trips. Accommodation available next door at the Westport Towers Apartments. *Aoife O'Nell's harbourside daytime café, The Creel, is another family enterprise. MasterCard, Visa. abbreviations

Scenically located, with great views of Clew Bay, Clare Island and Croagh Patrick, this long-established pub with restaurant has thrived under the ownership of Tom Bourke since 2016 and - even in the competitive Westport restaurant environment - is now a favourite destination on the quay at Westport Harbour.

A comfortable beer garden and secure outdoor play area complement the spacious interior, making it a great choice for families - and the views are fantastic from all areas.

Inside, a comfortingly traditional bar gives way to a light, airy space with plenty of well-spaced tables, where the good local food served is a point of pride.

Chef Donal Hoban's extensive menus offer something for everyone and make the most of local seafood in season, notably Achill Island crab, Killary mussels and Clew Bay oysters. Meats are sourced with care too - the locally-reared Irish Hereford beef comes from the local butchers - and the chicken, in delicious dishes such as oven-roasted chicken breast stuffed with Kelly’s of Newport black pudding, with tarragon and mushroom sauce, is free-range.

The choice is wide and includes good vegetarian and vegan choices, as well as children’s menus that are a cut above the norm. Favourites include ever-popular Seafood Chowder with home-made brown bread, Irish stew, and braised shank of Mayo Lamb - and the desserts are made in-house by their own pastry chef.

Prices are reasonable, given the quality of the ingredients and the generous portions, and the service is top notch too.

All that, and BBQs and live music too - no wonder this place has such a following.

***Accommodation available next door at the Westport Towers Apartments.

Eat & Stay establishments are chosen for their commitment to showcasing local produce and Irish hospitality.
