LOUGH DERG Garden Trail

Lough Derg Garden TrailThe Lough Derg Garden Trail features 10 gardens near Lough Derg. Starting at Portumna and running 35 kilometres long to Ballina-Killaloe, Lough Derg measures 13,400 hectares (32,000 acres) in area.

The garden trail can be accessed from the M8, the M7 and via the N65 from the M6. Many of the gardens are close to President Obama's ancestral home in Moneygall.

The gardens on the trail are both privately and publicly owned. They range in size from 1-10 acres. From manicured and award-winning gardens to gardens which encourage wild life, there is something for every gardening enthusiast.

Some gardens have features which will appeal to “non-gardeners” such as: a restored mill house, castles and aviaries of unusual birds. Consider stopping by one of the gardens while on a cycling or walking trip!
