Feile Frank McGann - Co Roscommon

Thursday 7th - Sunday 10th October 2010

Féile Frank McGann, which takes place in Strokestown, Co Roscommon, is a festival of Irish traditional music, song and dance, and was established to honour the memory of one of Ireland's best loved traditional musicians, Frank McGann.

Frank, a bodhrán player and singer, was born in Lisalway, Co. Roscommon. He passed away in 2002. Frank was well known and loved for his fatherly and caring approach towards musicians. He was particularly committed to nurturing the development of young performers. Born into a family steeped in traditional music, he was heavily influenced by Michael Coleman and the many musicians who regularly visited the family home, such as the great travelling piper, Johnny Doran.
