The Queen's Bar & Restaurant

The oldest pub in Dalkey, and also one of the oldest in Ireland, The Queen's was originally licensed to 'dispense liquor' as far back as 1745, and renovations and improvements in recent years have been undertaken with due respect for the age and character of the premises.

It's attractively done up, with dark wood, little alcoves and a raised level breaking up the space, and there's also a small section outside at the front to go if the weather's fine.

Quiet traditional bar fare is available and the more contemporary Queen's Restaurant is busy, but it could be worth a wait. Food is generally reliable but can be spoilt by erratic service.

A late evening drink in the outside front section is quiet and relaxed; earlier, it's lively, particularly in summer.

Restaurant Seats 70; Wheelchair accessible. D daily from 6pm; early D 6-7.30. Bar menu Mon-Fri, 12-4 & 5-7.30; Sat 12-4; Sun 12.30-3.45. Closed 25 Dec & Good Fri. Amex, Diners, MasterCard, Visa, Laser.
