The Spaniard Inn

Who could fail to be charmed by The Spaniard, that characterful and friendly old pub perched high up above Scilly?

Although probably best known for music (nightly), it offers bar food all year round and there's a restaurant in season. Popular traditional fare (Spaniard seafood chowder, smoked salmon platter, Oysterhaven mussels and oysters) for which The Spaniard is well known is served informally in the bar alongside more contemporary dishes.

Evening meals in the restaurant - which has its own separate bar - are more extensive.

Bar meals: L 12.30-3 & 6-9pm (all day Sat & Sun); Restaurant D: 6-10 (from 6.30, Sun). Value meal all day, €24. House wine, €20. Children welcome before 10pm (high chair, children's menu). Live traditional music, Mon/Wed/Sat. Closed 25 Dec & Good Fri, (restaurant also closes 2 weeks Nov & Jan). Amex, MasterCard, Visa, Laser.

Directions:

At Scilly, about 0.5 kilometre south-east of Kinsale, overlooking the town.
