Set back from the road in its own lovely gardens, Christina Byrne’s stone-built Victorian house offers old-fashioned comforts: brass beds, turf fires and home-made bread and preserves for breakfast.

Bedrooms are deliberately left without amenities, in order to make a visit to Ardmore a real country house experience and encourage guests to spend less time in their rooms and mix with each other - tea is available downstairs at any time.

All bedrooms are decorated to a high standard - one with jacuzzi bath - and a ground floor room is wheelchair friendly.

Christina runs 1-7 day guided walking breaks in this beautiful and unspoilt area, with dinner in local restaurants, including Kinnitty Castle and Leap Castle - Ireland’s most haunted castle (walking brochure available on request).

She also plays the fiddle and guests can go along with her to the pub when there’s a session on, to enjoy traditional music and meet the locals.
