Byrnes Wine Dine & Stay

In a brightly painted period house at the top of the main street in this old market town, Richard and Mary Byrnes' stylish, high-ceilinged restaurant has views of Ennistymon's famous cascading river from the restaurant and an extensive outdoor dining area at the back.
Seats 55 (outdoor, 40, private room, 15); air conditioning; not suitable for children after 8 pm. Open daily from 12pm. A la carte. House wines from about €20. Rooms 6. B&B from €135 (2 people sharing). CC. Closed mid-Sep-Mar. On-street parking. MasterCard, Visa abbreviations

Located in a brightly painted period house at the top of this old market town, Byrnes is a stylishly laid back restaurant with views of Ennistymon's famous cascading river from the airy restaurant and an extensive outdoor dining area at the rear.

The Byrne family offer genuine hospitality and that, together with ambitious standards of food and great coffee, means that a visit here is sure to be enjoyable.

The surroundings - stylish, airy and yet cosy - are conducive to relaxation, and a warm welcome from Richard Byrne or one of the friendly staff gets guests off to a good start. Everything is freshly cooked to order with fairly short but well-balanced menus offering modern cooking with an emphasis on fresh local seafood and local meat, and there are always interesting vegetarian options.

On evening menus, Gravad lax is something of a signature dish and makes an excellent starter with home baked bread; fish dishes are simple in style but very good to eat, and tender lamb shank may be served with delicious cabbage flavoured with bacon. Leave room for desserts such as a more-ish chocolate cake and delicious home made ice creams.

Prices are reasonable for the high quality, with casual daytime food and an early bird dinner offering especially good value

A short but well chosen drinks list includes plenty of half bottles, 10 wines by the glass and a good range of craft beers.

Accommodation is also offered.
