Sarah Webb started her acclaimed business The Gallic Kitchen in Dublin over twenty years ago, producing and selling superb handmade pies, tarts, quiches, relishes, chutneys, jams and marmalade among many other items.
Having sold the Dublin business to former manager, Kevin Doyle (who renamed it Lovin Catering), Sarah moved to Durrow, Co Laois, where she set up a commercial kitchen, for outside catering and to supply her delightful little shop in Abbeyleix, which soon became a must-visit destination for discerning travellers taking a break on the Cork-Dublin road.
When the former Bramley store across the road became available in 2014, she upped sticks and moved the business to this much larger premises in the lovely old shop.
Here, alongside her own delicious baked goods and salads, she also offers other premium delicatessen foods, many of them local and some (such as Dittys oatcakes) from other Good Food Ireland members. There’s plenty of room for seating in the main café and, with outside tables on a very pleasant patio too, you can now enjoy this wonderful food and the atmosphere of creativity much more comfortably.
Don’t leave without having a cup of freshly brewed coffee with one of Sarah’s gorgeous desserts. Everything is seriously tempting, but perhaps the meringue roulades are the most utterly irresistible...
Hot and cold food to go, too.
Also at farmers’ markets (Saturday: Temple Bar, Dublin, and Naas, Co Kildare; Sunday: Farmleigh, Dublin - please check www.farmleigh.ie for dates) and at festivals; catering offered for both large and small events.
