The Lodge

Rosemarie Quill's large, purpose-built guesthouse is just 3 minutes walk from the centre of Kenmare town
Rooms 12 (all en-suite & no smoking; 4 ground floor, 1 wheelchair friendly); B&B from €45-€75 pps. Children welcome (under 3 free in parents' room, cot available without charge); 24 hour room service. No pets. Garden. Open all year. MasterCard, Visa. abbreviations

Rosemarie Quill's large, purpose-built guesthouse is just 3 minutes walk from the centre of Kenmare town.

At guesthouse prices, it offers hotel-style accommodation: spacious rooms have king size beds, everything you could possibly need - including controllable central heating, phone, TV, safe, iron/trouser press and tea/coffee facilities, as well as well-finished bathrooms. There is also plenty of comfortable seating and even a bar.

Breakfast is served in a pleasant dining room, where tables are set up attractively with many details that come as a nice surprise in such pocket-friendly accommodation - including layered tablecloths, fabric napkins in napkin rings, and dishes of marmalade, jam and honey (not prepacks).

Fresh fruit salad, juices and cereals are set out on a sideboard and freshly baked bread, scones and toast are delivered to the table along with pots of tea and coffee. Rosemarie cooks hot dishes from the menu to order - including tasty scrambled eggs with Kenmare smoked salmon, as well as the Full Irish and other traditional breakfast dishes.

All round, a good place to stay.
