Clifden has more than its fair share of good restaurants, café, pubs and street food, but this place hit the ground running when it was set up by siblings Michael and Hannah Nagle in 2024. Holidaymakers were quick to share their new find and, more importantly, perhaps, it's been warmly recommended by other local businesses right from the get-go, which gave them a head start.
The smart green and white frontage is reminiscent of its former life as a post office, yet it has something of the feel of a food truck about it too - possibly due to its connection with the (equally well thoight of) Snappy Snappy food truck at Dooneen Pier, Letterfrack, which is the big brother.
'Serving up only the freshest fish and seafood!' is the only promise, so don't expect anything fancy, but do expect to be delighted by the simplicity of the short menu and food that tastes of the sea
Their mussels could well be the best you'll come across anywhere, while returning fans travel for the Fish and Chips (cod perhaps, it will vary) and if you're lucky there may be lots of crab - crab claws, crab salad...
And when it comes to drink, there are wines carefully selected to match the food - and then there's Irish craft beer, such as Whiplash, which is available on tap alongside continental favourites like Lineman Organised Fun or, by the can, Snuble Juice IPA from the Danish brewer Toøl which is crafted to be low in gluten. Friendly service too, at this relaxing place - just the spot to find that holiday feeling.
