Built around an 18th-century Merchant Prince’s residence, the Montenotte sits high over the city in a fashionable residential area, and this modern 4-star with an eclectic vibe offers a pleasing alternative to city centre accommodation.

The trump card is the view over Cork city, but beautiful gardens, pampering and leisure facilities, a quiet location and ease of parking are also persuasive.

Bedrooms all offer excellent in-room facilities including flat screen television, tea & coffee facilities and complimentary wi-fi, and the executive rooms and suites have a touch of luxury with welcome plates, turndown service and bathrobe and slippers. For family breaks and groups, the 26 Residence self-catering apartments combine privacy with use of the hotel facilities.

Set inside the original mansion, the Bellevue Spa and Style Suite offers treatments, a hair salon and a nail bar, while the Motion Leisure Centre has a gym, 20m swimming pool, sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi.

There's pride of place in all aspects of the hotel, and that includes the seriously tasty food served at this Cork hotels aptly named Panorama Bistro which extends onto the new heated botanical terrace for al fresco dining and drinks and enjoys magnificent views over Cork city - making this a popular dining destination for Corkonians, as well as a boon for guests.

All meals are served in this attractive bar and restaurant area including breakfast, which starts unusually early - ideal for business guests.

Few hotels offer an in-house cinema but the Cameo 50-seater cinema has daily screenings that include Art House Cinema and new releases, available to residents and non-residents.

The hotel is ‘topped and tailed’ by two wonderful new amenities: there's the Rooftop Terrace, which enjoys unrivalled views over the city - drinks are served in style from a vintage Citroen van and Friday night is Music Night... and then there is the recently-discovered sunken Victorian Garden, which has been restored to its original glory and provides a tranquil aromatic space to relax mind and body.

All round the Montenotte has become a very desirable destination with facilities that are second to none.
