Howya Festival - Co Laois

Sunday 24th July - Monday 1st August 2011

Durrow Laois "Howya" Festival - Ireland's Festival of Friendships is a celebration of an old Irish rural greeting, "Howya".

This "Howya" greeting was accompanied by an outstretched hand - a friendly rural Irish handshake that invariably resulted in an invitation for a cup of "tae" at the turf fire.

As part of our festival, all are invited to Durrow on International Friendship Day, Sunday August 1st to celebrate your own particular friendship and to sample the hospitality of our award-winning community.

Durrow Laois "Howya" Festival - nine days of friendship, fun and excitement for all the family in a sparkling carnival atmosphere. Music, street theatre, fun-fair, children’s entertainment, pub entertainment, sports and outdoor music events are just a sample of the fun and excitement of Ireland's friendliest festival.
