The MADRA Dogs on the Bog Walk - Co Galway

Sunday 26th September 2010

Event Location: Glenlosh Country Cottages, Maam, County Galway

MADRA – Mutts Anonymous Dog Rescue and Adoption – has recently launched its first ‘MADRA Dogs on the Bog’ walk. This sponsored walk will take place on Sunday, September 26th, on the grounds of the Glenlosh Valley Country Cottages near Maam in Co. Galway. The charity walk will provide a fun day out for dog owners, their family and most importantly their pet pooches.

MADRA , based in Camus, is dedicated to finding new homes for unwanted, neglected, abused or abandoned dogs; the walk is being held in order to raise much needed funds to support the ongoing provision of this and other services offered by this worthy non-profit organisation.

Speaking about the event, Chairperson of MADRA Marina Fiddler promises that the walk will be a fun day out for all the family. She says; “We are really looking forward to this event and hope that everyone will enjoy the opportunity to take in the beautiful Mamturk scenery while helping us to raise money to improve the facilities for our dog rescue and adoption service”.

There will be two walk options; the little legs and the energetic route. The little legs, as the name suggests, will be approximately a one mile route by road which will suit the smaller dogs or smaller children that may be accompanying.

The energetic route is for those who own canine companions with boundless energy who love nothing more than a long walk through both dry and boggy terrain. Be ware, this route may leave participants in need of a change of footwear should they choose to off road.

For those who don’t have a dog of their own, but would like to take part, there are plenty of MADRA rescue dogs who are always looking for someone to take them for a walk and show them some affection. A reduced registration fee applies to those who bring along one of MADRA’s rescue family.

To register for the dog walk log on to www.madra.ie and complete the registration process. Those who register for the event will receive a complimentary bandana and MADRA t-shirt; additional merchandise will also be on sale on the day. Free tea and coffee will be available at Brid’s bar and other snacks can be purchased for those who walk up a hunger. Fresh water and treats will also be available for the four legged participants.
