Dating back to 1741, Westport Horse and Pony Show has long been an annual favourite among locals and visitors alike. In 2011, it is being held on the 5th & 6th June in Knockranny, Westport, County Mayo, and is the perfect way to kick-start your summer.
In the morning, there are a number of showing classes including colt foal, Irish draught filly foal, Irish draught colt foal, sport horse, filly foal sport horse, brood mare, with foal at foot, best turned-out broad mare, best pony foal, colt or filly, best brood mare, pony with foal at foot, best pony, best donkey foal and best donkey – certainly something for everyone. There’s also a dog show on the day.
Westport is designated one of Failte Ireland's Heritage Towns and is beautifully situated in the shadow of Croagh Patrick, overlooking the wonderful Clew Bay. With many places of interest and great shops, restaurants and atmospheric pubs, it’s an ideal holiday destination. They look forward to welcoming you.
