Nuremore Hotel & Country Club

This fine owner-managed country hotel just south of Carrickmacross is set in a parkland estate, with its own 18-hole golf course, and overlooks a lake. You approach over a little bridge (“Beware - ducks crossing”) and immaculately maintained gardens around the hotel, which always create a good impression on arrival, are followed by spacious, comfortably arranged public areas with plenty of room for guests to mill around.

There are several churches close by, wedding blessings are also possible at the hotel and a wedding planning service - including extras like special transport and a piper or other welcome for arriving guests - is offered. Pampering treatments a-plenty are available at the hotel’s spa and beauty salon, and the wedding party will be delighted with the leisure centre and golf.

But the really big attraction to the Nuremore is head chef Raymond McArdle’s cooking, which has earned a national reputation for the hotel and made it a must-visit destination for discerning travellers in Ireland. Raymond sources ingredients meticulously, using local produce as much as possible and, in his spacious, state-of-the art kitchen, creates beautiful dishes of great finesse which are absolutely perfect for special occasions.

This wedding venues got a wedding cake service available on request and, for weddings over 250, the banquet is served in a pleasant function room - which can be decorated by the hotel and will have candles and flowers on each table - although smaller groups can be accommodated in other dining rooms.

There are no restrictions - the hotel is open all year and there is no minimum room booking required for weddings - but, as generous bedrooms with views over the gardens and lakes provide an excellent base to explore this little known area (as well as all the things there are to do on site), an extra day or two to relax after the wedding should be an attractive option for guests.
