Curated Kitchen & Coffee

One of the most exciting things about Alan Calhoon's Cathedral Quarter gem is that devotes itself to a new cookbook every week for its ever-changing menu. And this hip café and speciality coffee shop not only serves breakfast, brunch and lunch, but also some of the best coffee in the city.
Seats 20. Open Mon-Fri 8am-4pm, Sat 9am-4pm, Sun 10am-4pm. MasterCard, Visa. abbreviations

Located across from St. Anne’s Cathedral, this hip café and speciality coffee shop serves breakfast, brunch, lunch and some of the best coffee in the city. Each week they curate the menu based on a new cookbook. Expect to see dishes from the likes of Nigella Lawson, Jamie Oliver, Donal Skehan, Nigel Slater, Hairy Bikers, Diana Henry and Yotam Ottolenghi.

The coffee here is exceptional and their filter is one of the best in the city - it does take longer to arrive, but it’s worth the wait. They also have a weekly guest roast on offer and, to accompany your coffee, one of their delightful traybakes or cakes is a must-try.

Curated Kitchen is an exciting concept and the owner Alan Calhoon and his team are constantly looking out for new recipes and cookbooks from around the world that they can feature on the ever changing menu.

Variations of a few staple dishes - poached eggs, avocado, bacon and sourdough or French toast with spiced maple-roasted peaches and vanilla yoghurt, for example - are staples on the all-day menu, and then there are the featured recipes for that week.

Their soups and pasta dishes are as tasty as they are deliciously wholesome and, on the Lunch menu (11.30am – 3pm), you may expect to see dishes like Donal Skehan’s Multi-bean salad or Antonio Carluccio’s Chicken, pancetta and avocado salad featured. You can also add extra items like sourdough, halloumi and mushrooms to any dish.

It’s probably best to visit if you are a party of just one or two as the no-nonsense yet atmospheric decor (inspired by the building's previous life as a tea merchants) includes utilitarian bench-like seating with tables for two that are close to one another, or there is a long window bench seat looking out over the Cathedral Quarter.

The service is lovely, with smiling friendly staff and a warm welcome. This is a little gem in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter.
