Centrally located in the heart of Limerick, close to the Hunt Museum and within comfortable walking distance of the city's main attractions, this sympathetically restored four-star guesthouse and daytime café offers an interesting alternative to hotel accommodation and makes an excellent base for both leisure and business visitors.

When Denise and Peter Brazil opened Bedford House in 2018, they wanted to provide 'a truly unique guest experience', and everything about it reflects their sense of pride in the city and the house itself, which was once home to the Limerick Clothing Factory. Its history has affected everything 'from our needle and thread logo to our Bedford Row Heritage Trail on display in The Parlour Room', and the Brazils and their team do everything possible to create a home from home for guests - they even offer a Personalised Concierge Service to ensure that guests get the most out of their visit to Limerick.

The twelve rooms (all for double / twin occupancy) include a spacious suite as well as Chic (standard) and Elegant (superior) rooms, all with bespoke decor inspired by the history of the house and furnished to a high standard with king size beds, high pressure showers and eco-friendly toiletries. Hotel standard extras - robes and sliipppers, widescreen smart TV, desk area with USB charging points and complimentary still and sparkling water - are included as standard, and there's a gym and steam room for guests use as well as The Parlour Room, where beverages and snacks are available.

Breakfast is available in The Bedford Café on the ground floor, which is open to the public every day and a popular place to meet up for a daytime bite. Menus are kept short, but include an all-day brunch, with local and other carefully selected Irish producers the focus. Killowen Natural Yoghurt, Paddy O’s Granola, and Ardsallagh Feta Cheese all feature, along with terrific coffee by Ponaire in Newport, hot chocolate from O’Conaills Hot Chocolate in Cork, and SynerChi Kombucha from Donegal.

All round this is a very useful place to know about when visiting Limerick - a city that is full of interest and pleasing surprises.
