Carrick-on-Shannon (Irish: Cora Droma Rúisc) straddles the River Shannon and the County Leitrim and the County Roscommon border. The majority of the town is in Leitrim. The town's situation on the River Shannon has resulted in it becoming one of the most popular destinations for cruise holidays in Ireland.
