Magherafelt, Co. Londonderry

This market town is located a few miles from the north-west corner of Lough Neagh and offers the visitor the stunning countryside that surrounds the largest lake in Ireland. 

Lough Beg nature reserve is a beautiful place to visit in the locality which covers 300 acres of fine ornithological sites with over 100 species of birds on an impressive expanse of wet grassland. 

Church Island (0044 28 25 871 695) on Lough Beg is an interesting historic point of interest, as the ruins of the old church include a spire, cemetery, holy well and the site of an old monastery. 

Golfers will enjoy Moyola golf club (0044 28 79 468 468), which is set in 130 acres of mature wooded parkland and is a par 71 championship course. 

The Lower Bann fishing scheme (0044 28 79 301 289) offers anglers excellent coarse fishing with around 50 fishing points in place, the area is the venue for international course fishing competitions.
