Heritage week is celebrated in 40 countries around the world. Our heritage is part of what we are.
This year's event takes place in August and Beaufield Mews, together with Kilmacud Stillorgan Local History Society hope to provide an introduction to the rich heritage of Stillorgan and the surrounding area through a number of events at the Beaufield Mews, Stillorgan.
There will be an exhibition relating to WW1 letters to Monica Roberts of Stillorgan from the Western Front giving personal accounts of what life was like on the front line for the thousands of Irishmen who fought and died in the Great War. (This display is courtesy of Royal Dublin Fusiliers' Association and Dublin City Library and Archive).
Also on display will be information on Stillorgan's past, its prominent buildings and famous residents, together with information on Kilmacud Stillorgan Local History Society and its activities.
The exhibition will be held in the Hayloft Restaurant at the Mews and will run from Sunday 22 August until Wed 25 August.
It will be launched by Tom Burke MBE, Chairman of the Royal Dublin Fusiliers Association, at 15.00 on Sunday 22 August. We are delighted that Mrs Mary Shackleton (daughter of Monica Roberts) will attend the opening.
There will be an illustrated talk on "Letters to Stillorgan from the Great War" by Bryan MacMahon immediately after the opening of the exhibition. The talk will last for one hour approximately.

Mon 23 Aug 18.00 - 21.00
