Strangford Village
Co. Down
Strangford has six national nature reserves within its reach and a number of historical attractions such as Nondrum Abbey and Monastic site (0044 28 90 543 037), which includes a small stone church and the remains of a round tower dating back to the 11th Century.
Kilclief tower house is worth a visit, which was built as a residence of the Bishop of Down, dating to around 1413.
Other historical religious attractions include Raholp Church and Saul Church, supposedly where St Patrick preached his first sermon, which is a Celtic revival style Anglican Church with a round tower.
One mile south of Strangford Cloghy rocks are an excellent vantage point from which to watch sea birds and seals.
