With its stylish contemporary interior enhanced by original work from local artist Oliver Jeffers and a large alfresco eating area overlooking ‘Methody’ (as the school, Methodist College, is known locally), this all day bar and grill is one of the most attractive restaurants in the Deane empire - and in the area.
As well as Deanes trademark good food, courtesy of impressive Executive Head Chef Chris Fearon (a competitor in the 2013 Great British Menu among other achievements) and the team, it brings a refreshing contrast to the mainly traditional atmosphere that the fine Victorian architecture of the university gives to the area. There's a commitment to showcasing local produce and the restaurant is a member of the Good Food Ireland marketing group.
This Belfast Restaurants menus run through the day and begin with casual brunch fare, then light food in the afternoon and follow with more structured evening meals; many of the dishes are familiar Deanes classics but Chris Fearon has also put his stamp on the restaurant with his gutsy, flavoursome style.
It’s child friendly and the outside seating area is non-smoking. Giving good value is part of the Deanes philosophy and all menus deliver value for money
An accessible wine list includes a good choice by the glass and a high proportion of half bottles. The main restaurant can be booked for a private party (and would make a lovely wedding venue) and the adjacent rooms are available for smaller private parties, either singly or together (max 40).
