Kingscourt, Co. Cavan

Kingscourt (Irish: Dún an Rí) is a busy market town in County Cavan. It is located in the east of the county near Carrickmacross, County Monaghan. The town was founded near the site of the old village of Cabra where the wishing-well featured in the song 'Doonaree', located at Dún-a-Rí National Forest Park, set in the area of outstanding beauty, part of which is maintained for public recreation and amenity. Situated in a tranquil glen, Dún an Rí is home to stoat, hare, mink, rabbit and otter, as well as red and grey squirrel along the banks of the River Cabra.

Kingscourt offers good coarse fishing at the local lakes such as Evrey and Greaghlone or the golfer can enjoy 9 holes at Cabra Golf Course (+353 (0) 28 966 7714).

Nearby at Muff Rock is the scene of an annual horse fair on the 12th of August, which is the oldest horse fair in Ireland.
