'Best Budget' denotes moderately priced establishment (max. less than €50pps for accommodation or €35 for 3-course meal without drinks) Denotes genuine Irish food culture, ie special Irish food products/companies/producers, and highlights the best places to shop for regional and artisan foods; the selection excludes obvious 'non-Irish' elements regardless of quality, eg ethnic restaurants and specialists in coffee, wine and other drinks, unless relevant to local production or history. Eat & Stay establishments are chosen for their commitment to showcasing local produce and Irish hospitality. Previous Georgina Campbell Guides Award Winner

Pyke'N’Pommes

A legend for his authentic, quality-driven street food in Derry since 2013, the internationally-experienced chef and entrepreneur Kevin Pyke closed the Strand Road premises early in 2026 but the Pyke'n'Pommes original riverside operation is thriving at the delightful Pyke'n'Pommes POD, a double-decker bus called 'Decky' - which continues to earn acclaim locally and nationally, and even beyond.
Seats about 100. Open: Tue 12pm-8pm, Wed-Thu 12pm-9pm, Fri-Sat, 12pm-10pm, Sun 10am-8pm. A la carte (starters & desserts c.£6; burger & fries c.£15). Vegetarain & vegan options. Fully licensed. Cocktails. Families welcome; kids menu. Parties welcome. Closed Mon. Hours may vary (longer hours in summer). Wheelchair friendly. Online bookings. Also at: POD: 124 Strand Road Derry BT48 7NS (riverside, between Baronet Street and Foyle View Apartments); prices one third less, eg burger & fries c.£10. MasterCard, Visa. abbreviations

Although the Strand Road restaurant closed in early 2026 ,the original street food concept is still alive and doing very well on the quayside, where the Pyke'n'Pommes POD - 'Decky' as they call it - is a heated double-decker bus with tables, comfortable seating and some outdoor seats as well. A converted shipping container kitchen beside it also serves a takeaway menu - you may have to queue at times, but the burgers are equally good (and very good value) and it's a lovely setting on the banks of the River Foyle, with a little marina nearby.Moore on the Quay’s location couldn’t be more fitting – suitably nautical overlooking the boats of Foyle Marina, and right next door to Pyke ‘N’ Pommes’ street food bus and shipping container.

With its battle cry of 'LOCAL.LOCAL.LOCAL Produce, organic when possible' and excellent cooking, Pykes'n'Pommes lives up to its promise of 'Making our city taste better'. And alongside Pyke'n'Pommes you'll find one of Kevin Pyke's  valued local suppliers at Moore on the Quay - where fishmonger Brendan Moore champions local fish, including supplies from the Foyle Fisherman’s Co-op in nearby Greencastle.
