This beautifully located medieval town is set in the ancient Golden Vale (Gleann an Oir), with the Comeragh Mountains to the south and the Walsh Mountains to the southeast making this unspoilt area a wonderful base for outdoor activities.
The river has always been central to the life and development of the town, formerly for trade and now mainly for pleasure.
