The Derrynane Coast Hotel

If only for its superb location, this unassuming 1960s-style hotel would be well worth a visit - but there is much more on offer here. Partially re-opened under energetic new management for the 2026 season, it quickly became a go-to place, for its superb views, outdoor seating on the deck - and great food, in both the bar and restaurant.
Seats 100 (+60 outdoors; pets welcome on outside deck). Events (max 200). Food Service 2pm-9pm daily. Range of menus, changed monthly. Wines from €31 bottle/ €9 glass. Cocktails, Craft Beer., Non alcoholic list. Accommodation opens 2027: Rooms 68 (all en-suite, 40 sea view, 12 with bath & shower; family & wheelchair friendly rooms available). Room rates TBC. If only for its superb location, this unassuming 1960s-style hotel would always be well worth a visit, but there is much more on offer.

After a closure, this hospitable, family-friendly place re-opened under energetic new ownership in 2026 and - while continuing to renovate the rooms to a high standard - the Restaurant and Bar opened for the 2026 season and quickly became a go-to summer place, for its superb views, outdoor seating on the deck and great food. And, with well known local chef/restaurateur Martin McCormack as General Manager, the focus on good food will come as no surprise to those who know Kerry.

The range of menus offered is impressive and you can expect to be pleasantly suprised by the quality and variety. While there are, of course, plenty of crowd pleasers, the menus are led by local seasonal availability, especially of seafood and meats, and changed monthly so there's alkways a freshness to the offering.

Activity holidays have always been a big draw here and will continue to be again soon, when the accommodation reopens. There are beautiful beaches, excellent fishing, Waterville Golf Course offers special rates at certain times - and the area is renowned for walking breaks.

There's plenty going on nearby too. Food lovers will want to see Derrynane's own local market and the Kenmare Wednesday Market, for example - and don’t leave the area without visiting Daniel O’Connell’s beautiful house at Derrynane - or the amazing Ballinskelligs chocolate factory.
