Ballylickey, Co. Cork

Ballylickey (Irish: Béal Átha Leice) is a charming village at the very heart of Bantry Bay near Bantry, County Cork. The Ovane river flows into Bantry Bay at Ballylickey. Ballylickey is known for its stunning scenery, its unspoilt environment and the genuine warmth of its welcome and is outside the busy tourist trail which makes it even more attractive.

The area is a haven for walkers with some of the finest walking country in Ireland. From ambling in quiet county lanes to strenuous hikes in the rugged Caha or Sheehy mountain ranges. offering some while

Nearby Sheep's head and "Goats Path"  and the magnificent Beara Peninsula provide a lovely drive from Ballylickey with plenty of vistas awaiting around every corner.

Bantry town - home of Bantry House,  where the Earls of Bantry have resided since 1739 - is just five minutes away and has some excellent craft shops. Glengarriff and Bantry Park provide a couple of testing courses for golfers, while there is sea angling nearby and salmon and trout fishing in season.

Ballylickey Manor House (+353 (0) 275 0071) is a worthwhile place to visit, built over 300 years ago as a shooting lodge, it was fondly restored in the 1940s, and guided tours of the grounds and house are provided.  Ballylickey is close to the West Cork Garden Trail which offers many beautiful private and public gardens.
