Sparky, the Old English sheepdog, establishes a friendly tone from the outset as he welcomes arriving guests to this pleasant hotel in Clonmel, which is attractively located in its own grounds, overlooking the River Suir.
The original house was built in 1863 and was purchased in 1961 by the current owners, the Nallen family. They’ve extended the hotel several times over the years, most recently to add a penthouse floor offering especially spacious and luxurious bedrooms and four suites with balconies.
The existing rooms were also refurbished and upgraded; all are furnished to a high standard with smart bathrooms - and housekeeping is exemplary. This is the main hotel in the area, popular for weddings, with conference facilities and a fine leisure centre.
The public areas in the old house include a cocktail bar, restaurant and lounge areas.
