Enniskerry (Áth na Scairbhe in Irish) is a picturesque village on the Glencullen River in County Wicklow 24 km (15 miles) south of Dublin. Enniskerry village was built to accompany the manor house of the nearby Powerscourt Estate and is an excellent base from which to explore the surrounding countryside as well as the magnificent Powerscourt grounds.
Enniskerry features several shops as well as a host of picture-postcard cottages and a charming village triangle. The clock tower in the centre of the village is also a very attractive feature.
Lying in a beautiful glen of the Cookstown or Glencullen River, the wooded country around Enniskerry offers fine forest walks. The nearby Powerscourt Estate has lovely gardens and grounds and the Powerscourt waterfall - at 109 metres, the highest waterfall in Ireland - has picnic areas and hill walks.
Golfers are spoilt for choice with 2 championship courses in the Powerscourt Estate and many others of a high standard nearby. There is also horse riding and other outdoor pursuits available locally.
