Little Washer

With its intimate atmosphere and focus on small plates and sharing platters, this cute neighbourhood wine bar and pizzeria is the perfect complement to its big sister, The Washerwoman, next door.

Small but perfectly formed, it's just what you'd expect from Brian Montague and Elaine Murphy's Winding Stair Group (The Winding Stair, The Woollen Mills, The Legal Eagle), which is renowned for its focus on sustainablity, food provenance and sociability.

It's all about delicious Italian inspired food and carefully curated wines which, along with the long hours and friendly service, make Little Washer a go-to community hub all year round.

Start the day on a high with some gorgeous pastries and coffee perhaps - anyone for an Almond croissant or maybe sweet and salty Bacon and maple Danish? At the weekend, make that bunch,so how about Garryhinch wild mushroom on toast, lemon ricotta, poached eggs, tarragon & pangrattato? Then lunch brings open sandwiches, Italian toasties and the first of the day's pizza oifferings (Pizzette, Margherita, Pepperoni), and salads. Afterwards the pizza menu gets into full gear - and then there's a mood change again later when the small plates arrive with the dinner menu at 5pm, which is also when the wine list beckons and serious sipping begins.

It's a well structured offering, with something delicious available throughout the day - and, as well as its obvious appeal to locals, it's a boon for viistors to the Bon Secours across the road too - as is The Washerwoman, with its complementary menus and especially the famous Sunday Roast. And while you're there, don't forget to ask about Open Hive, a local bee conservation project that is supported (among many other sustainability initiatives) by The Winding Stair Group.
